Open Question: How long would it take for a train to stop safely from 110 MPH?

Specifically, a typical Amtrak consist in midwestern service. Also, how long would it take to get up to speed? Let's not alarm the passengers or spill their coffee. I'm asking because the FRA has recently authorized Amtrak to run trains up to 110 on the stretch between Kalamazoo, MI and Porter, IN.
